An Amazing Night at the 10th Annual Dining for Dreams
The BC Centre for Ability would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support of this year's Dining for Dreams held on Thursday May 21st. 2009. Our Heroes of Ability, who inspired and touched the lives of our guests was a highlight of the night, helping guest to better understand the great work at the Centre.
A total of 297 guests attended this year’s event, exceeding last year’s totals. With 30 tables in the Crystal Pavilion Ballroom of the Pan Pacific Hotel, the night was buzzing with excitement. In the foyer 87 silent auction items, including jewelry, gift certificates, gift baskets, painting, appliances, and recreational equipment, were beautifully displayed and well received by all. The live auction was a thrilling experience culminating in bidding wars for most of the items. When our Heroes of Ability took the stage there were both tears and laughter in the audience as they told their stories. A performance by Insieme, a pop opera trio, further captivated the guests and received nothing but grand applause. The event ended on a very high note with our own pioneer, Michael Wittman, Hero of Ability 2008, winning the 50/50 draw. Michael generously donated the winnings back to the Centre.
In the scheme of the economy, we are proud to announce that Dining for Dreams 2009 raised a total of over $122,000.00 and met our goal of keeping expenses at 20% of the gross revenue. This was all made possible with the help of our sponsors, guests, and volunteers, we sincerely thank-you for your continued support.
